Project LIBERTY: Save the Liberty!

Donation protected
The Liberty Theater is being threatened.

But we believe it can be saved.

"Here's your chance if you love the Liberty Theater," Mayor Weppler posted on Facebook on June 18, 2017, "...Unless a historian or someone who cares about Libertyville history purchases the property it will be gone forever. Sorry, the Village does not have the money to purchase the property. So if you want to save it and you've got the money. Here's your chance."

Project Liberty is a student and alumni-run project to support the historic Liberty Theater as it faces the greatest challenge in its 80-year history: the threat of demolition. Committed to growing public support for our old theater, Project Liberty aims to help #SaveTheLiberty by encouraging prospective buyers to expand the theater's legacy of entertainment and community service. Certainly, we are one of Libertyville's most ambitious projects, led by persistent student and alumni from our very own Libertyville High School dedicated to preserving this treasured local landmark for generations beyond our own to enjoy - but this can only be possible with your help.

PLEASE NOTE: This campaign and project are NOT associated with Golden Age Cinemas, but IS a campaign to preserve a historical building in Libertyville. Contributions go to supporting Project Liberty's operations to provide support to prospective buyers for the property. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at [email redacted]!
