This is the fifth year for Project Sunscreen!! Please consider what you can give and read below for more info.
Project Sunscreen raises funds to purchase items that the homeless and near-homeless may go without in the summer. This includes bug spray, rain ponchos, toiletries and, of course, sunscreen. The items are packed into reusable and water resistant bags
Each bag costs $15-$25 depending on where supplies are available. Last year saw over $900 raised and 40 bags put together. If there are extra supplies that can't be held for a year we drop them off to one of the homeless shelters or one of the drop-in's downtown. So you see, even $5 goes far in this project.
Packages are always handed out on or around July 4th in honour of the day Margaret Sanders was born. Margaret had a heart for the downtrodden and those in need of a little extra love. Margaret left this world way too soon, but that passion for helping others lives on. Project Sunscreen was born out of a desire to continue Margaret's care for others.
