The Fifth Annual Princess Day: Celebrating Little Girls of Color is a community funded summer event, for girls ages 4-10. It is the only event of its kind held in Boston.
Originally conceived in 2014 by performing artist Valerie Stephens, as a gift to her nieces, Princess Day is a free party for little girls of color. We said “You are a Princess just the way you are!” And they came dressed from tutus, leggings, Wonder Woman costumes to full princess attire, filling the Gertrude Howes Park with laughter and joy. What started out as Princess Party for 30 has blossomed into an event for over 100 beautiful princesses and their families.
The 2017 Princess Day broke our record with more than 350 attendees including princesses, parents, siblings and friends from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Our own Miss Boston 2017, Gabriela Taveras volunteered to help out. Gabriela is now Miss Massachusetts 2018. YAY!
This year, with your help, the princesses will enjoy a wonderful afternoon of Princess Crown and Sash Making, Face Painting, Live Performances, DJ, Healthy Snacks, Dancing, Princess Throne Room Photography Portraits and more.
Your Donations will help up to pay for:
*Our princess supplies – beads, baubles and sparkles to make crowns (Moms & Dads love crowns too),
*Equipment rentals- tables & chairs, sound equipment, the all important porta-potties
*Princess Throne room decorations
*Entertainment, Face Painters, DJ , Photographers
*Healthy snacks and water
*Supplies for on-site Princess Throne Room Portraits
*Make your own Princess Sashes materials
*Advertising & printing materials
*Park decorations
