oil paints ,canvas ,easels ,frames ,brushes ,paint thinners, sketch pads, charcoal sticks,watercolors, watercolor brushes, watercolor paper pads, erasers,
Travel expenses : gas for the paint-mobile and lodging for overnight excursions . Camping and hiking gear for those hard to reach views.
food:
feeding 2 cats and 2 dogs ...and my wife & I will get to eat some too...lol
Exhibtion:
gallery space, food and beverage for opening night, invitations, publicity
Exhibition Catalog:
publication cost for a full color catalog to accompany the exhibit...the catalog will also contain written descriptions of some of the major pieces in the show, historical accounts from property owners and local tales, aswell as a forward written by my father, John Buckland.
History:
I will be pinpointing very specific historic areas throughout our region to preserve on canvas, and your funds will help keep the true essence of these places alive for generations to come.
Cultural Heritage:
To me, Appalachia is a place of unmatched charm and carefree beauty where breezes of sweet southern air that smell of honeysuckle on dark August nights drift effortlessly through the mountain's wild cherry trees. It's a place where you ride in an old beat up pick up truck named Betsy down a dirt road to a favorite swimming hole and, without a second's hesitation, jump in the creek with your blue jean shorts still on.
This is our Appalachia, and this is the Appalachia that Jenn and I aim to portray and preserve through our new series of paintings, "Preserving Appalachia."
