Healthy Keystone Kids Inititative represents Pennsylvania’s families who want to breastfeed their babies, 80% start out doing so. However, most mothers quit breastfeeding before they want to because they are worried and they are not getting the breastfeeding help that they need.
Families can reach their breastfeeding goals with the help of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) whose services have been proven to increase breastfeeding rates.
The International Board Certified Lactation Consultant credential requires the most extensive education and it is the only certification that requires hands-on clinical experience before taking an international certifying examination.
Unfortunately, state and federal regulations prohibit most private and public insurance plans from covering services of IBCLCs who are not licensed. You can help families get lactation support from IBCLCs by contributing to our .
