About the Community Centre...
Steeped in history and located on the former site of RAF Eastcote, Pembroke Park is a recently built housing development nestled in the leafy suburban Eastcote.
Due to open in Summer 2018, the brand new Pembroke Park Community Centre (PPCC) will be run as a non-profit entity by the local community (trading as Pembroke Park Ltd and shortly transitioning to a Community Interest Company), who successfully lobbied the council to gain operational management of the facility.
While building works are almost complete, the agreement with the builders (Taylor Wimpey) is to provide a community facility completed only to a shell finish.
The Project...
Pembroke Park Ltd are fundraising to provide a modern, safe and secure centre for the benefit of the entire wider community. There are many basic elements that the centre will need before opening, including security systems (alarm, CCTV), furniture (tables & chairs) as well as an integrated Audio Visual & IT infrastructure in order to be able to maximise long-term facility hire returns.
Pembroke Park Ltd is also fully responsible for funding the community centre, which will include rather high utilities costs (heating, lighting, electric & water), legal fees (liability insurance & contents cover) as well as any property, service and leasing fees. It's important to note that none of these fees are being covered from this campaign.
There are no charges being added to residents of the estate for the maintenance and running of the community centre, and they will see no additional charges on their service bills in relation to this facility. As such, Pembroke Park Ltd needs to successfully fundraise approximately £8,000 (plus fundraising fees) in order to bring the community centre into working operation.
The Pembroke Park Community Centre is a non profit facility, with a commitment that any profits generated will be reinvested back into the centre and improvements for the Pembroke Park estate.
Community benefit...
The community centre was a key requirement of the planning consent given from Hillingdon Council to Taylor Wimpey before they could begin building on Pembroke Park. The centre was always intended to be a facility of community value, creating cohesion throughout the estate while also providing added value to the wider community.
It is the ambition of Pembroke Park Ltd to create a flexible space that can play host to many community activities, below are just a small example of the types of use the community centre may be used for:
* Nursery & Childcare
* After school and holiday clubs
* Fitness and health classes
* Police liaison events
* Community events
* Workshops
* Local groups' meeting space
Cost breakdown...
We will be able to announce the opening as soon as we've secured just over £5500, which represents the first 5 capital expenses detailed in the table below.
The additional items, though important, may be purchased and installed once the centre has opened; adding more flexibility and value to the community centre.
At this stage we are only raising funds to cover the captial expenditure detailed above. Though there are obviously many other expenses. Running a community centre is an expensive, (approximately £1000 a month running costs).
