Peace Corp Teacher Art Supplies

Dear Friends, I created this gofundme account to support IHS Class of 2010 Alumnus Alexis (Lexi) Delahaut. Lexi, after becoming frustrated with world events and injustice, decided to make the leap from armchair facebook activism to Real World Service by joining the Peace Corps. This courageous leap has landed Lexi in Kwa-Zulu Natal, in rural South Africa as a teacher at Nansindlela Combined School. As a Health, English and Arts Teacher there are many challenges including a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS and very few resources due to poverty/lack of resources. Lexi has expressed her frustration at the inability to provide creative artmaking lessons for "her kids" due to the fact there are literally no supplies. Her simple wish is to have artmaking materials in order to help children learn about and creatively express themselves, especially related to their virus.
As an Art Teacher in what seems a near perfect world (Irvine), I understand the value of children being able to visually communicate their experience. I hope that you choose to take a minute and help support me, my fellow Irvine High Art Teachers and the Irvine High Art club support Lexi and her service to the Zulu children in South Africa. We hope to support Lexi in making a difference in the world-- perhaps by making it a bit more kind and connected through Art and Creative Expression. Whatever amount that is kindly and generously donated will be used to purchase a store credit at an Art Supply business in South Africa in order to save on shipping costs (currently investigating ArtAttack and Addicted to Art). Lastly, I am so grateful for my former students like Lexi, who are brave enough to take action and serve--  making a difference! Our deepest gratitude to you for supporting Lexi's service!
