Youth rising for our future

Donation protected
The climate crisis may be big, but our movement to stop it is even bigger.

Since December, students in every corner of our country have been striking monthly to demand climate action. On May 3rd, 15 000 high school students from across Canada flooded the streets of over 100 towns and cities with a clear message: “We are in a climate emergency. Government must act”.

Climate Strike Canada is a network of youth from across the country raising the alarm and shifting the narrative on climate crisis. Our movement is completely youth-led, volunteer-run, and grassroots, with members ranging from 10-23 years old. We act in solidarity with an international movement of youth demanding climate action, including Fridays for Future actions.

Our central demand is a Green New Deal for Canada that addresses climate breakdown with the speed and scale that this crisis requires. We are pushing for a plan that rapidly transitions us to a 100% renewable economy and addresses rising inequality, in line with science and Indigenous knowledge. Principles of the Green New Deal are being shaped as we speak by communities across Canada, and it’s crucial that youth have a strong voice in its development. We’re counting on a Green New Deal to safeguard our futures.

We will continue to organize a variety of events for youth including training sessions, community-building events, and town halls. We have big plans, but we need money to help us become an unstoppable force for change. We will use your donation for:

- Running a cross-country Green New Deal tour: focusing on outreach to youth in rural communities;
- Spreading our message: printing posters and buying online ads to reach a wider audience, as well as maintaining our website;
- Strike and event logistics: renting sound equipment and meeting rooms;
- Art supplies: paint and banners to beautifully display our message at events, and paying for videography costs.

Our national financial team will allocate funds to local organizers across the country on request, according to our internal code of conduct. One of the beneficiaries of the campaign, Payton-Rose Mitchell, will withdraw funds into the Climate Strike Canada bank account. We will release quarterly financial reports on our website so you can see exactly what we spend money on.

We are so grateful for supporters like you - this is a multi-generational fight. What we do right now determines the future of civilization. Will you join in?
