The Homeless Initiative
Donation protected
Help us help the homeless in Australia.
Why
There are currently over 116,000 homeless people in Australia. (Australian Bureau of Statistics, census 2016)
Homeless people include those sleeping on the streets, in cars, at a crisis centre, couch surfing or are in overcrowded accommodation.
Nearly 60% of people experiencing homelessness in Australia are aged 34 years & under, with NSW, QLD and Vic being the highest top three affected states.
Different situations contribute as to why people are homeless, from broken relationships and loss of jobs to unaffordable housing and those that retire with no superannuation or savings.
Who
iCompLii and miiFile are Sunshine Coast software based businesses in Queensland, who have been working together since 2014 and have come together for our Homeless Initiative.
miiFile is a digital wallet where individuals can store ID, work credentials, qualifications and other important documentation. iCompLii provides compliance & management solutions for businesses, with a focus on managing employee and contractor details.
We are aiming to personally reach out to the homeless through community and crisis centres, volunteer programs and any avenue we can think of to assist the homeless with the option of obtaining a digital wallet on miiFile to assist them with managing their documents and data.
Side note: Data in a miiFile profile is owned by the individual, miiFile is simply the custodian, nobody has access to that data without the owners express permission.
We are aiming to raise $110,000 to assist the homeless to acquire and store a set of documents to help them navigate everyday life. We aim to partner with other organisations to reach the homeless to prove the concept, initially in major cities such as Melbourne then branching to other areas.
Costs
- Costs directly related to acquiring personal documents for individuals
- Costs directly related to setting up premium data profiles
- Costs directly related to electronic equipment needed for task
- Directly employ people to assist homeless individuals in creating profiles
- Costs related to working with community groups to raise awareness of the Homeless Initiative.
- Costs related to admin, social media updates
While this initiative will employ several people to help us work out best practices long term ( ideally we will employ the long term unemployed where possible ) and would also love to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer.
It's a big task but with your support, we believe we can make a difference.
