Paul Gilmartin's journey to Europe

Comedian Paul Gilmartin hosts a weekly audio podcast, The Mental Illness Happy Hour http://mentalpod.com consisting of interviews with artists, friends, listeners and the occasional mental health professional about all the battles in our heads; from medically diagnosed conditions, past traumas and sexual dysfunction to everyday compulsive, negative thinking. Gilmartin makes a conscious effort to explore subtlety, to explore issues that aren’t black and white, and to offer a feeling of connection for those suffering from mental illness.

The Mental Illness Happy Hour gets more than 600,000 downloads per month, has a 5/5 Itunes rating where it frequently occupies the top spot in Self-Help, was chosen by Esquire as one of the best podcasts of 2016 and featured in the 2013 PBS Documentary "A New State of Mind." In addition, the podcast has been nominated for a Stitcher Award.

"Praised by listeners all over the world." - Atlantic Monthly

"A perversely safe place in which he and his guests talk about their fears, addictions and traumatic childhoods." - NY Times

"Normalizes what so many others feel but have been too fearful or ashamed to express...remarkable" - Psychology Today

"A vital, compassionate gem that fills a desperate and under-addressed need in our society." - Esquire

Paul is a recovering alcoholic/addict and has been sober since 2003. He is also an incest survivor and has been in treatment for depression since 1999. He is a big believer in therapy and support groups .

In the summer of 2018, Paul will be traveling to Europe, with a focus on Ireland and guests who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, PTSD from the Northern Ireland conflicts, alcoholism, and so many other issues. But he needs financial support to do this because traveling is expensive. His project is so important. Please consider donating.
