Parents in Recovery
As you may know, I spend time each week teaching those struggling with Alcohol and Drug Addictions. My focus is on relationship and parenting skills. The goal is to help people learn healthy ways of functioning in their primary relationships.
An opportunity has come to me to be trained in a new program called "Parents in Recovery". This program grows out of a partnership between Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. It is well-researched. I believe it would help me immensely as I work with parents and children.
After attending the training my goal is to not only use what I learn in the classes I now teach, but to begin monthly groups for people in the recovery community which focus on parenting. Our community desperately needs to help these people maintain their sobriety and change their relationships with their children.
I hope to attend a training in the middle of July. Whatever money raised would go to cover fees and some travel.
I would be grateful for any help.
