 OXNARD, CA
On January 5, 2017 in the city of Oxnard, the Ortiz children lost their mother to domestic violence.  There are six children ages 2, 3, 6, 10, 14 and 16 years.  The children are now in the care of their guardian. Their guardian is their cousin. She is a young mother herself with two children ages 3 and 7.  The guardian had to quit her job in order to in order to care for the younger children. She is also enduring a health issue that requires surgery which she had to put off due to not having health insurance.  In the meantime, this family of four has grown to a family of ten, and they are living on the husband's income which has made it financially hard on the family.  Our hope is to help this family as much as possible with financial donations. If you can, please donate to these children whose world was changed forever. Thank you.

The family is very much in need of financial assistance. Due to the care of the needs of the children, taking them to their much-needed medical appointments and other important appointments, their caretaker has to take time off from work. Due to less hours at work, increase in rent, and increase of utility costs, the financial need has greatly increased. The family is in a dire situation. It is our wish to continue helping this caretaker who has done everything she can to ensure this family is not broken up. If you can please donate, it would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate by other means, please message me. Thank you.

Thank you so much to all who have donated here and who have donated in person. There are not enough words to express the gratitude from the family. God Bless you all.

Hi Everyone! Thank you for helping the Ortiz children. I just wanted to update the page and let you all know
100% of the donations (aside from the Go Fund Me fee) will be paid out the children. My daughter and I have set up the page to assist the family. We are in constant contact with the family and have assisted them with other donations such as diapers, food and clothing which can still be dropped off at Oxnard Police Department second floor. Thank you all for your help!

I wish I could donate but I can't. At the moment. I will when I get the chance. In the meantime most people don't know that children that lost a parent qualify for SSI under that parent. Go to social security office and ask to apply for survivor benefits. This will help in the care of these kids. God bless you.

As a relative you can apply as a non needy caretaker with the department of Social Services. Your income will not be used when you apply for aid for the children.

While it's nice to offer suggestions, this family needs money, prayers or offers to donate clothes, toys, etc. I will share your story and make sure we are spreading the word. SSI takes awhile and they don't have that kind of time.
