NO MATOACA MEGA SITE

$2,806 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 54 people in 17 months
Bermuda Advocates for Responsible Development (BARD) is a group of concerned citizens who oppose the MATOACA MEGA SITE, a proposed 1700 Acre Industrial Site that Chesterfield County, VA plans to locate in a largely residential and Agricultural area.

The County proposal also includes building a major highway and railroad line through residential neighborhoods, destroying a historical home, an elementary school, and a County park, all for a non-existent Industrial user.  There are also environmental wetlands concerns.

We believe that destroying our community, increasing traffic on existing roads, and spending millions of taxpayer dollars on pure speculation is irresponsible and we are committed to fighting this rezoning.  All County residents will benefit from ending this pipedream.

Funds are needed NOW for signs, flyers, meeting space rental, insurance, and to pursue all legal and ethical routes to end this County plan.  We hope you will give what you can to realize our goal of STOPPING the "MATOACA MEGA GAMBLE".

Greetings all - As can be seen from the recent press postings, BARD is having some effect on the Megasite "Process". We still have a LONG way to go. Everyone working on this is an unpaid volunteer, but there are still expenses, with many more (and bigger) to come. Exhibits, copies, FOIA's, yard signs, professional video recording and editing, drone videos, email Muster system, possible legal fees, and more, all add up. For those who have already donated , thanks again! If you have not, please consider. If there was ever a good cause, this is it: Preserve our way of life and our home values by opposing this Megasite, roads, and rail!

There has been tremendous support on Facebook for BARD's proposal to relocate the proposed "Matoaca" Mega Site to the defunct TRANLIN industrial property neat Willis Road.

We appreciate your interest, and ask your monetary support for our continued research efforts, communication with you and the County, exploring legal issues, printing more yard signs (we're all out), flyers, and mailings. Please consider donating today. THANK YOU for all your kind words of support. We're in this for YOU!

OK folks we know you want more NO MEGA SITE yard signs! All 100 went out at our first BARD public meeting, and are now out there in many yards. We have ordered more. If you want one (or more) we are asking for a donation of $6 per sign (they cost us more than that). If you donate at www.gofundme.com/nomegasite and then email us at 2017bard@gmail.com, we'll let you know how to get them once the order is in. Thank you for your support!
