New Fire Department Building

The Dickens Volunteer Fire Department in Dickens Texas needs help with the cost of building a new building. The Department is a group of volunteers who live in the Dickens and Afton Texas area.
The Department currently works out of a 52 year old building that has outlived its usefulness and is now too small to accommodate our department. Some of our vehicles are being parked outside which makes the vehicle and its equipment subject to the weather and vulnerable to vandalism.
A new larger facility would allow all of our firefighting equipment to be housed in the same safe and secure environment. It would also give us better access to our emergency equipment and will allow quicker response times enhancing the quality of our response to emergencies. This could save hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage in our community.
The building will provide a location where all units can be serviced and maintained, a better place to train volunteers and encourage more volunteers to join our organization. The new firehouse will produce ripple-effect benefits for the community.
At this time we are still in the planning stage for the new building. When construction begins all money that is donated will be withdrawn by the department and spent towards the cost of building the new building.
We would like to thank everyone who has and will support us as we move towards meeting the department’s needs.
