FACTS:

The historic Million Woman March (MWM) took place on October 25, 1997, in Philadelphia, and is the largest gathering in the world of women anywhere ever.

According to the University of Pennsylvania/U of Penn (Phila, PA), one of the top Ivy League schools in the United States, upon its Mathematics Department performed an Aerial Diagnostics assessment of the 1997 Million Woman March and they determined that the number of MWM participants as being an estimated 2.5 million.

The Million Woman March (MWM) is the first grassroots assembly to produce more than a million people without the use of mass media, corporate sponsoring, major benefactors, and/or high profile personalities or a nationally recognized group/organization in the forefront as its conveners, spokespersons, etc. MWM has remained an independent organ and self-determined entity from the time of its conception to present day and is therefore, now, a socio-political incomparable power base in its own right.

This historic 1997 Million Woman March included speakers such as Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the daughters of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, Dr. Dorothy Height, Dick Gregory, Congressman John Conyers, Jada Pinkett Smith, Blair Underwood, Faith Evans, Sis Khadijah Muhammad, and of course Queen Winnie Mandela; to name a few.

AND NOW,

The Million Woman March “20” Year anniversary (October 2017) will reconnect millions in the US and millions more, worldwide, as the National MWM has now evolved into a global Movement for ALL women and girls of African descent regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, education, economic or social status

Our “20” year reunion will establish our First Annual International African Women's Solidarity and Appreciation Day, Wednesday, October 25th, 2017. Africa, North America, Latin America, Caribbean, Asia and Europe will bring forth balance and harmony for global Africana Sisterhood. While MWM places a major focus on uplifting and empowering women of African descent, there are many issues and concerns affecting our lives and families. Working together to end all forms of gender related violence and abuse and building the first global movement for all women and girls of African descent throughout the Diaspora is one of our goals.

The Million Woman March "20" Year Anniversary Reunion will take place on October 29th, 2017 in Philadelphia, PA.  See you there!!
