Community Air Quality Monitoring

Donation protected
In response to the new asphalt plant that just opened in McKinley Park, local residents have started organizing to form Neighbors for Environmental Justice to hold these companies and our elected officials accountable.  We are very concerned with the environmental impact of the plant and all the new truck traffic and are now raising funds to buy 5 more air quality monitoring sensors to set up throughout the Southwest Side.  One sensor is already set up a few blocks from the plant and is providing us with real-time readings and weekly averages of our air quality.

The people of McKinley Park and all the residents of Chicago deserve to live in healthy communities free of pollution and contamination. The current administration is dismantling the EPA and industries are being deregulated for their profit while they put our lives and our plant in jeopardy.  Why must we choose between our health and jobs? If our local elected officials wont stand up to these companies then it is up to us to fight back and demand accountability, respect, and good healthy jobs for our community.

Below is the link to real-time readings of the air quality sensor we have already set up just a blocks from the MAT Asphalt plant operating at 4010 S Damen Ave.
