Dear friends and neighbours of Mount Hope Midtown,

The neighbours won! Two neighbours of the proposed Breithaupt Block 3 development spent countless hours filing an appeal and successfully negotiated a settlement at the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT).  We are all very grateful for these fruitful volunteer efforts by Catherine Owens and Dawn Parker on behalf of all the neighbours impacted by the development.

We are raising funds to cover the costs of an expert witness report that was instrumental in arriving at this positive outcome.

Here are the main points of the agreement, as described by Catherine:

There will be no parking garage.  Some surface parking will remain but the majority of the parking will be underground. Perimeter intends to use the previously designated parking garage space to erect another commercial building.  The new proposed building will be 18 meters in height with a 7.5 metre setback from the middle of the laneway and surrounding residential houses – this is an extraordinary win as you may recall that the original proposed garage had a ½ metre setback from the laneway.

The LPAT support centre provided free legal support to the team, but the for expert witness testimony was not covered. Please donate generously to what we feel is a positive outcome to all parties involved.

Yours truly,

Scott and Sarah, on behalf of the neighbourhood.

Thank you Dawn for committing to contribute 5% (up to $250) of the total amount of donations.
