The Story:

I always I knew I was called to be a Pastor. But I never imagined God would call me to prepare for this sacred task by being a monk for a year.

I am 1 of 16 young Christians from around the world that have been selected from more than 3000 applicants to join the Community of St. Anslem in London. We each come from different countries, cultures and denominations and share the same desire - that our spiritual and physical energy change the world with God’s love. I am humbled & honored to be one of them.

We will spend “a year in God’s time” together at St. Anslem in silent prayer, studying theology, and serving the poorest in local communities, giving our whole selves to God in body, mind, and spirit.

About Me:

After graduating from FSU, I went to seminary at Duke Divinity School. Since then I have served as a Hospital Chaplain at Tampa General, School Chaplain, Youth Director, and Director of Family Ministries at St. John’s Episcopal: all the while keeping up with my passion for musical theatre.

I am elated that I have been chosen and that I will have the opportunity to live my truth - and be who God has called me to be. I believe the most valuable experience to prepare me for a life of ministry is ahead of me this year. I hope that this will inspire other young women who are just now starting to hear the faint but persistent voice of God calling them.

Join Me:

There are two ways you can join me on this journey of hope, discipline, and expectation. If you would like to help, I am in need of both financial assistance and prayer.

As of August 5, 2016, I have received donations from more than 45 supporters and a scholarship from my home church, Hyde Park United Methodist that put me halfway to my fundraising goal.

You can read more about my story in the Tampa Bay Times: http://www.tampabay.com/news/religion/tampa-womans-ministerial-journey-takes-unique-path-to-england/2284375

I would like to pray for you during my 1000 hours of silent prayer. Please share with me how I may help.

Miranda Harrison-Quillin from Tampa, Fl. I am raising this money to support my participation for ten months in the Community of St. Anselm, a monastic community created by the Archbishop of Canterbury. One third of the money raised here will go directly to the CoSA. The other two thirds will pay to store my belongings in Tampa, my airfare to and from London, my mobile phone bill, and traveler insurance. Plan for withdrawal: send one third to CoSA via PayPal. The other two thirds will be paid out to each vendor.
