Recovery From Burglary

Donation protected

My beautiful friend has been a victim of burglary.

Unknown persons committed a "peel and steal" on her van, robbing her of much needed work tools of no significant value to anyone but her, and causing substantial damage in the process.

A mindless, despicable, selfish crime that no self employed, decent, honest and hard working person should have to experience.

The perpetrators have yet to be caught and will likely go undiscovered and unpunished, leaving her to pick up the pieces alone and unsupported.

She is a single parent and works incredibly hard in all weathers in a very physical job.

Her small landscape gardening business serving West London is her only means to supporting her 3 children (two teens and one under 5).  As well as employing 3 others (also single parents).

She still hasn't recovered from a random arson attack along her street in which she lost a shed, tools and her beautiful home made recycling cupboard back in July.

This robbery has left her heartbroken, financially on her knees and facing a horrible choice to either fund the repairs or make an insurance claim, through no fault of her own.

Self funding will wipe out the funds she had saved to get her and her family through the quieter colder months (not to mention Christmas!).

An insurance claim would see her lose 8 yrs no claims and increase her premiums on a lease vehicle she desperately needs to survive and leave a substantial amount of the costs still uncovered.

Both options will force her into debt for the next few years, and this seems so unjust when she was simply the victim of a crime.

She is such a kind and caring person, a grafter, and does so much for others.  I could not stand by and let her attempt to financially recover from another crime alone.

The goals of the fundraiser are:

£1500 - to repair and reinforce both doors
£1500 - to replace the stolen items (which will be sourced second hand wherever possible)
£1000 - towards the time and business lost during the 5 days she and her team couldn't work with the van off the road
£250 - for the materials required to reinstate her recycling cupboard and the rest of the garden damaged in the arson attack

Should peoples generousity exceed the basic costs of rectifying the financial impact of the crimes, it will be put towards something nice for the family to make up for the distress and upset these incidents caused.

If you are able to help with a couple of pounds, a fiver or tenner it would be so very gratefully received.

If you want to help futher, please look out for and sign petitions regarding tool theft from vehicles of the self employed.

The one we were supporting has been closed early due to the GE but the website is here:  https://get.simplybusiness.co.uk/stamp-out-tool-theft

There needs to be tighter regulation when it comes to the selling of second hand tools, and greater minimum fines for those convicted of tool theft so there is more of a deterrent to inflicting this crime on honest and hard working members of society offering a wide variety of much needed services.

Thank you so much for reading.  And if you can't spare please share.
