MeTooSTEM Needs Your Help To Take Our Organization NonProfit and Provide Resources to Graduate Students, Post Docs and Women Who Have Been Hurt by Sexual Harassment.

It’s Make or Break Time for MeToo Movement in Science.

Most women in science and technology are sexually harassed, grabbed, groped and demeaned by colleagues at work. This is more common for trainees, and faculty harming students and junior colleagues is too often by universities that are get more money by protecting their reputation instead of protecting women.

Dr BethAnn McLaughlin experienced these things as a victim of retaliation for reporting colleague’s threats against a student. Five years of fighting the system and speaking out against ‘harassholes’, a term McLaughlin coined to describe faculty and staff who have been found guilty of sexual misconduct, earned Dr McLaughlin the 2018 $250,000 MIT Disobedience Prize, which she shared with MeToo Founder Tarana Burke and Dr Sherry Marts.  The organization she founded has been featured in the Washington Post, Science Magazine, on NPR.

Science magazine reporter Meredith Wadman described McLaughlin as “irreverent, sometimes wickedly funny….by turns sobering, hilarious and profane’. McLaughlin has been invited to dozens of campuses and conferences to share the truth about how we fail to protect students from professors who grab and grope them and whistleblowers who report these behaviors.

This May 4th McLaughlin will have a chance at the national platform to bring our truth to power. She has been asked to be a Keynote Speaker at March for Science in NYC. We need you to show up in droves, grab the media’s attention with signs, informational materials, spokespeople and lawyers who have been doing this work with for the last seven months. We need safe spaces on site for victims. We need point of contact people in the crowd from our leadership team. We need money, voices and people. Our management consultants estimate that we need 100 volunteers and to raise $42,000 for March for Science. We need you because it’s make or break time for us.

In appreciation for your investment,

$30.00 donors will get a MeTooStem lanyard and 3x3 computer sticker.
$50.00 donors will get three MeTooStem lanyards and 3x3 computer stickers.
$100.00 donors will get five MeTooStem lanyards and 3x3 computer stickers.

Big Roller? $1000.00 and receive 20 lanyards, 10 stickers and her favorite gin cocktail with MeTooSTEM founder, neuroscientist BethAnn McLaughlin and the rest of the MeTooSTEM Leadership Team at the 2019 NYC March for Science.

All appreciation gifts will be picked up from the MeTooSTEM reps in NYC March for Science May 4th.

More media means more pressure on our funders, scientific societies and universities to enact meaningful, immediate changes that value whistleblowers, honesty and healing. Thanks to you, later this month the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine will force it’s members to vote on if they want to keep members if they have been found guilty of sexual misconduct. They really don’t want to have this vote. They would rather hide their members as they have for decades. Now, the National Academies has partnered with some of the worst universities who have hired, retained and promoted professors and who have sexually assaulted, coerced and demeaned women in STEM.
