Marshall Home for Men

Tax deductible
The Marshall Home for Men is a non-profit assisted living facility that opens its doors to low-income men, many of whom are veterans.

The men who live here have served our country well. Many have silver and bronze stars, and some even have multiple Purple Heart medals. Now, they’re living out their final days with limited means and our mission is to give them a comfortable place to call home.

The Marshall Home for Men does not receive any support from the local, state, or federal government. We survive only on donations and what the men can afford to pay in rent

With the recent increase in minimum wage, we’ve been met with a sudden need to expand our budget by at least $30,000.

Unlike for-profit businesses, we cannot pass this cost onto the consumer. Although we work hard to keep costs as low as possible, there are certain unavoidable expenses to keeping our assisted living facility open and active.

Every day, the men get fed three home cooked meals and three snacks. We do their laundry, provide transportation and housekeeping, and administer medication. Throughout the day, they have access to several cozy living rooms, an outdoor garden, a courtyard to breathe in the fresh air, and a library.

The home started in 1931 by John Ryland, a rancher who opened his ranch to men looking for work during the great depression.

When John Ryland passed away in the 1950s, he donated his land to the City of Tucson and with the financial support of the Marshall Foundation our first wing was built and the Home was renamed the Marshall Home for Men in their honor.

In the 1970s, the Tucson community raised enough money to build the men a second wing, expanding the capacity of the home to serve 52 men – most of whom would be homeless without the Marshall Home for Men.

Since then, we’ve worked hard to keep John’s mission alive by providing housing, medical care, and meals to veterans and other low-income men who need our support.

This is a long-term care facility. Most of our residents have lived in our home for well over a decade – some for several decades. Without us, they would be homeless.

Will you help us continue serving these men and fulfilling the mission of the Marshall Home for Men?

No donation is too small. No amount of support is too little. These men have served our country and now, they need our help to live out their final days with a roof over their head, a warm meal on their plate, the medication they need, and the creature comforts they deserve.
