Bear one another's burdens

bur·den
noun

1.
a load, especially a heavy one.

We are called to carry one another's burdens. To literally "bear" them. And so here I am, creating a movement of love in hopes of spreading the load amongst many, so it is not so heavy for one.

My mother in law is facing a load that overwhelms me to even imagine, and there is truly nothing I can do to fix it. I can pray. I can offer a kind look. I can try and empathize. And these things are good, but I have experienced tangible help in the midst of a load this heavy, and it blessed us in ways I could never explain. I hope to give this same help to her.

Terry Neighbors, also known as Bear to so many, and my father in law passed away Friday morning, leaving behind his wife Deana. But another piece of this puzzle is his granddaughter, whom they were in final stages of  adopting. They have spent 11 years trying to adopt their granddaughter who is about to become a 12 year old girl that has had to experience too much life, in my opinion. But she had them. -- It pains me, to my core, that she no longer has him here to shelter her, and pains me even more that Deana has lost her partner in shouldering the blessing and burden that is raising a soon to be, teenage granddaughter as their own.

I have held and lost life. It is a burden I would never wish on another soul. -- But truly the triggers of life and the burdens that follow are often the hardest to endure. This is why I feel led to come together and BEAR this burden, in honor of all that my father in law wanted to do for his granddaughter, and in hopes of carrying my mother in law in a time that she shouldn't have to "be strong". -- This fund will cover, summer care for their granddaughter if needed, act as a savings and buffer since losing extra income, and ultimately be a means to protect these two girls from having to BEAR this burden alone.

I speak of being "made for more" often. I hope we all can come together and love one another in big ways, and do our part in carrying just a small fraction of the load that has been placed on these girls. I hope we can play a part in Bear's dream for his granddaughter. I hope we can honor his life and just pour out love. I hope we can make a difference, rise up, and live MADE FOR MORE.

Thank you all, from the deepest parts of my soul. It truly moves me to tears to think about taking away this burden. I am thankful for every one of you.    - Shay
