Daniel Balima (67 years old) is an horticulturalist and nurseryman from Tenkodogo, a small villge in Burkina Faso, where he lives with his large family.
As a child Daniel fell ill with polio and, despite growing up without using his legs, he managed to follow his father in the family nursery, walking on his hands alone.
In the fifty years of activity it has created more than 1 MILLION TREES contributing to the fight against desertification in the Sahel.
The non-profit Italian organization Pacefuturo after producing the film "THE MAN OF THE TREES” has now decided to promote this fundraiser for Daniel for having restored dignity to the person and to work with his concrete example of life.
The project “ONE MORE MILLION TREES”, with a total cost of 15,000 euros, includes the construction of:
1. the nursery FENCE (3,000 euros);
2. ECO SOSTAINABLE WELL (50m deep) including water storage tank and pumping system with photovoltaic panels (7,500 euros);
3. ECO SOSTAINABLE DRIP irrigation (2,000 euros);
4. purchase of an ELECTRIC WELLCHAIR and spare batteries with self-recharge system in the nursery (2,500 euros).
All the material of the project will be chosen based on the quality and availability on site of spare parts and craft enterprises able to guarantee the maintenance of the systems or of the individual components over time.
Engineer Trivero Andrea and also director of the documentary, with more than twenty years of experience in development projects in the Sahel, will follow and guarantee the success of the project for Pacefuturo onlus.

Daniel Balima (67 anni) è un anziano orticoltore e vivaista di Tenkodogo, una piccola cittadina dell’Africa Subsahariana nel Burkina Faso, dove vive con la sua numerosa famiglia.
Daniel da bambino si ammala di poliomelite e, pur crescendo senza l’uso delle gambe, riesce a seguire il padre nel vivaio di famiglia, camminando sulle sole mani.
Nei cinquant’anni di attività ha dato vita a più di un milione di alberi contribuendo alla lotta contro la desertificazione nel Sahel.
L'Associazione Pacefuturo onlus dopo aver prodotto il film "L'hommedes arbres" ora ha così deciso di promuovere questa raccolta fondi a favore di Daniel per aver restituito dignità alla persona e al lavoro con il suo esempio concreto di vita.
Il progetto, con un costo totale di 15.000 euro, prevede:
1. la realizzazione della recinzione del vivaio (3.000 euro);
2. la costruzione di 1 pozzo (forage prof.50 mt) comprensivo di serbatoio di accumulo acqua e di sistema di pompaggio con pannelli fotovoltaici (7.500 euro);
3. irrigazione goccia a goccia (2.000 euro);
4. acquisto di una carrozzina elettrica e batterie di riserva con sistema di autoricarica nel vivaio (2.500 euro).
Tutto il materiale del progetto sarà scelto in base alla qualità e alla disponibilità in loco di pezzi di ricambio e di imprese artigianali capaci di garantire la manutenzione degli impianti o dei singoli componenti nel tempo.
L'ingegner Trivero Andrea, con più di vent'anni di esperienza in progetti di sviluppo nel Sahel, seguirà e garantirà per Pacefuturo onlus la buona riuscita del progetto.
