Lost Boys vs NRPS & OIPRD

Donation protected
The case of the Lost Boys of Pickering has been a stumper since 1995.  How can six teens just disappear without a trace?  Did they drown in Lake Ontario, as Durham Police would have us believe?  If so, where is the evidence to support that conclusion?

Some folks believe that one or more of the boys survived the night of March 17, 1995, including possibly Jay Boyle.

In 1998, two sets of unidentified remains were recovered from the Niagara River.  One set of bones were encased in a pair of, what the police report at the time called, "red denim Jeans from Levi Strauss."  At the time of Jay Boyle's disappearance, he was last seen wearing "red denim jeans from Levi Strauss."  Coincidence? Maybe.  Proof?  Not quite.  And what about the three-year time interval?  The autopsy suggested that the bodies could have been in the river for years.

In 2014 the Unidentified Remains were sent to the Ontario Coroner in Toronto for DNA testing.   Here is where the plot thickens.  The Forensic Anthropologist noted "...they had a waterproof coating on them [and] cannot be a red Levi’s pair of jeans from the 1990s.”

Why the contradiction in descriptions?  Who is right?  Who is wrong?  Are the remains recovered in 1998 the same remains viewed by the Anthropologist in 2014?

Why is this important?  The Coroner has a DNA profile of Jay Boyle.  If they succeed in recovering DNA from the Unidentified Remains, they will compare it to Jay’s profile.  If there is no match, then this is not Jay.  But what if they are extracting DNA from remains that are not the ones recovered in 1998?  That negates the results and we are no closer to the truth.

The NRPS did not adequately explain the contradiction so we took the case to the Office of the Independent Review Director who refused to investigate because they deemed it was “not in the public interest”.  They closed the case without even looking into it.

We dispute the ruling of the OIPRD and are proceeding with the case against the NRPS to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

I need your help to move the case forward to the Court.  I am Bruce Ricketts, Private Investigator and friend to the Boyle family.   Costs to be covered include: filing fees, legal support, communications, travel, time and more.  I have been working on this case for over five years and have done everything at my own cost.  We are at a stage that I cannot fund it alone.

As I told the Boyle sisters five years ago… “This is a marathon, not a sprint.”  It will take time and the investigation must be methodical.

This court case may or may not answer all our questions, but it will move us forward towards the truth.  And that is all we can ask for.

If you can contribute, it will help.

Thank you.
