What comes next? October 12, 2017 Updated

I've been asking myself that question all evening. I don't have a clue!
I'm increasing the funds, to be raised, from $3000 to $15,000.  One thing I know for sure, whatever happens.. it's going to cost money.

Ray is back living in his truck and his wounds have gotten worse. The last time we talked, a few weeks ago, he was in a pretty bad headspace.  So discouraged, sad and looking pretty broken honestly.

I'm not sure if he's old enough for assisted living but that is exactly what he needs. Even just for a while until he's well.

24-hour registered nurse
Supervision of medications
Meals prepared for him
Counseling
Transportation to and from his Dr. Visits
Help finding a job, writing a resume and budgeting.

If he isn't old enough yet for assisted living then
he needs an apartment and a team of folks to fill the needs above.

I'm hopeful.

Thank you ALL very, very much!! Love ~ML

A little about my band, Old Town Tonic, and our story with Ray.

I met Ray last summer. I was out on a run and decided to stop and say Hello.  I had no idea, this one moment, would begin a beautiful friendship.

I wasn't sure, when I stopped, if he was homeless or not. I had seen him around town but he always looked so happy and he flipped these creative, handmade signs that said LUV YA, HAVE A GREAT DAY, IT'S GONNA BE OK, SMILE. I never saw one asking for anything so I assumed he was a guy who set out to make folks happy.

The day I stopped, I listened to his story, (We all have one of those right?! And to tell you mine would take hours.  It would take hours to hear his as well but I got the condensed version and so are you), I found that he was, in fact, homeless and when I tried to give him $5 he wouldn't take it.  He said that me stopping to chat was worth more than anything else.

Well, it's funny how we are all connected in some way. I'm in a band, Old Town Tonic,  and while talking to Ray my guitar player, Nathan, happened to see me.  He had been friends with Ray for quite some time and we starting talking about writing a song.  Before I knew it, Nathan had it written, brought it to the band and "Little Ray of Sunshine" was born.  We've sang it, multiple times, to a teary Ray.  Ray is one of the kindess, gentless souls I have ever met.  He wants to share whatever he has and, I know, accepting this community help is going to be humbling and difficult for him. I'm hoping and praying he will take this help and use it to change his future.  No one can do that part for him but we can help start the process.

Thank you SO much! Lots of Love to you all!
~Marlo Lynn
