Litter in Jupiter, FL

In the Fall of 2015 I decided to give back to the community where I live.

I adopted a 1.16 mile of the beautiful and historic US 1 and attempted to remove the unsightly litter that had accumulated.

Little did I know of the challange I had instore!

This section of four (4) lane highway comprises of two (2) north bound lanes and two (2) south bound lanes, separated by a lush median.

Along each side of the highway are two (2) wonderful nature preserves, one (1) nature preserve contains the, cute,  fun loving, but shy, gopher tortoise.

The total amount of highway frontage at this time was 2.32 miles, I decided not to include the additional 2.32 miles of the median that separates the four (4) lanes at this time.

In the Fall of 2016 I decided to adopt an additional .56 mile of the now somewhat less littered US 1 and include the median.

Now my total highway frontage has increased to 6.92 miles.

In the Fall of 2017I decided to adopt an additional 1.12 mile of the now somewhat less littered US 1 and include the median.

Now my total highway frontage has increased to 11.4 miles.

I am requesting the amount specified to pay for a used 2014 golf cart that I purchased to assist 

1) in reducing the number of hours needed to remove the litter, especially when the outside temperature starts to increase

2) in removing larger pieces of litter in a more efficient and timely manner

3) in reaching locations along the highway that were not completed previously in a more efficient and timely manner

4) in some level of safety along the highway

5) in provding transportation to volunteer(s) to areas in need of litter removal

6) in adopting another section of the beautiful and historic US 1
