Lincoln Memorial Park Revival

Donation protected
Lincoln Memorial Park, located in Brownsville, Miami (3001 NW 46th St, Miami, FL 33142), is a forgotten and neglected cemetery with more than 500 Black Miamians ranging from millionaires to slaves that serves as a haunting historic reminder of Florida’s segregated past.

In recent efforts, every second Saturday of the month, the place is visited by volunteers who attempt to revitalize the forgotten black community, but despite their contributions the park needs more attention.

On Nov 10, the day before Veteran's Day,  thanks to the generous donations I have received, we held a Patriotic Ceremony orchestrated by the Knights of Columbus along with a moving bagpipe performance by Mr. Donald Worth. This event marked the first phase in continuing the beautification of historic Lincoln Memorial Park.  The entire park being 20 acres is still in need of further work, I am currently working on a development plan with FIU graduate students in the Landscape and Architecture program to follow an environmentally sound upkeep. The Knights of Columbus have promised to continue their support with their workforce and equipment.

By properly continuing this effort, we can bring forth attention from community leaders to maintain and further clean the entire park.  For additional information on the park, please read this article: https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/article215562635.html
