Lillian’s Legacy: Reduce Stillbirth

Our sweet baby, Lillian Margaret died one day before her scheduled arrival. We were stunned, and devastated. You are never prepared to loose a child, but even less prepared to loose a healthy baby! Our time together was perfect, lots of strong kicks, zero pregnancy complication such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or growth restrictions. Test proved, she was indeed healthy before a mystery virus or something caused her to pass away. Born still, stillbirth. Still perfect, 7 pounds 4 ounces of lovely.
Did you know stillbirth is more common than SID’s (sudden infant death) and CHD ( congenital heart defects) in newborns? I did NOT!
Stillbirth is often preventable. Stillbirth takes the lives of 26,000 babies yearly in the United States, according to starlegacyfoundations.org. 71 daughters and sons per day. Before this happened to my child, I was never aware at how common it is! The research and prevention is just not up to par. I am aware that it is scary and uneasy to talk about babies dying, but I assure you, it is easier to talk, educate, and fundraise than experience first hand. We must research and make strides to prevent fetal demise. The United States ranks 48 out of 49 developed nations in annual rates to reduce stillbirth. We will always advocate and fundraise in her memory.
As we celebrate and mourn her first birthday, we ask you to help us educate and reduce the number of babies who die. We will be donating to
starlegacyfoundation.org and possibly other angel babies’ foundations.
