Hate Has No Home in Lexington

We are setting out Welcoming Yard Signs in Lexington, MA.

In December a man was arrested in the Liberty Heights Neighborhood of Lexington for a hate crime against a black family living across the street.  This shocked the neighborhood, and many of us felt it was representative of the growing climate of fear and intimidation of minorities and immigrants brought on by President Trump.  Neighbors in Liberty Heights and Peacock Farm organized to create and display yard signs in Lexington to show we welcome all our neighbors;  we will not tolerate actions that divide us or make one person fear another.

Women from the Battle Road Action Committee - the local organization supporting the women's marches on Jan. 21st, also got involved.

So far we have printed up 100 signs, of which samples are in our photo.

Two volunteers paid for the first printing.  Our signs cost $13.00 each.  They are all double-sided except the Black Lives Matter Sign, which is single sided.  They come with a metal stand.

We are asking those who are able to contribute for their sign and/or make an additional donation so we can distribute to those who might not be able to pay.

We also welcome donations from those who cannot display a sign due to residence rules or a Condo Association.  By donating, you are still helping to spread this message in our community.

The money will go towards the next printing.  When we reach our goal we will print 50 additional signs and distribute them.

It is our hope that this movement to make our Welcome visible will grow and spread in Lexington, and possibly in surrounding towns.  It sends a message from each family that in our neighborhoods, we welcome all, and we have no place for hate.
