Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” (Rita Pearson, Educator) In Australia in 2016, 446 children were removed from their parental home as it was determined that it was not a safe environment. These children were born into a world of harm and addiction. Once removed they were placed in a range of facilities including temporary care, family care, residential units, special accommodation homes. All of which provide temporary physical safety but are not an ideal nurturing environment for any child. These children carry an extra burden through the addiction of their parents - this is a life sentence. With the inherited drug addiction, they are also born with developmental delays, vision impairments, complex care needs and ongoing medical issues. Thus requiring extra medical care, social intervention and ongoing support. Allowing them to have opportunities such as swimming, music and other extra-curricular activities plays a significant role in their development. Once again this can only occur if financial assistance is provided. We can fully assure you that ALL funds go directly to the children and children's needs only. The little children are desperately in need of this help without it they will not grow or prosper without it. These poor little children have been unfairly labelled since the day they were born. Its is not fair that they suffer and are stereotyped in the community. We all need to support them and give them a fair go. The lack of funding from the various services along with the limitations their carers face cause so many obstacles restricting potential growth. It is pivotal that these children remain within their cultural groups as it provides familiar surroundings, consistency and an awareness for both the carer and the child. Although love is the most important ingredient required in their life, without financial support they cannot achieve their full potential. Lean on Me aims to provide financial support that will enhance the quality of each child’s life. Every child requires a champion. Will you be that champion?
