Kimberly Winn Land Legacy

Donation protected
Kimberly Winn,  a disabled veteran on a limited income, is about to lose a 2-acre plot of land in James City County, Virginia that has been in her family for five generations.

After inheriting the land from her father in 1998,  she also inherited back taxes that she has finally been able to pay in full.  After receiving a letter from the county commissioner's office that her back taxes and fees of $6,656.81 were paid in full, she was happy and relieved, thinking everything was up-to-date.  However, she found out that she still owes $2,431.67 in 2016 real estate taxes, guardian ad litem fees, commissioner fees and attorney fees.

If she doesn't give James City County $2,431.67* by the close of business tomorrow (Friday, March 31, 2017), the county will take ownership of the property and put it up for auction (date TBD).  *See note below for explanation of total goal amount.

Our veterans give us their best, and as a result of her service, Kimberly is disabled and lives on her disabilty income.  Although a struggle, she paid all of the back taxes and fees on the property, thinking that she had brough everything up-to-date.  Now, she's at extreme risk of losing her family legacy because of additional taxes and legal fees.  Can we as the greater Williamsburg/James City County community help her?

Let's band together and help her out!  Any amount you are willing to contribute would be a great help!

All funds raised through this campaign (less gofundme.com's campaign fees) will be released to Kimberly through gofundme.com for payment of this debt.

Thank you for your generosity and service to someone who has served us and our country.  Here's a link to her story in our local WYDaily.com.  http://wydaily.com/2017/03/30/losing-a-legacy-james-city-county-to-auction-family-land-of-disabled-veteran/

*Also, please remember that a service fee of 7.9% (5% for gofundme.com platform; 2.9% +$.30 for payment processing) comes out of each donation, which equals $192.10 for this campaign.  The goal reflects her outstanding debt of $2,431.67 + the $192.10 charged to pay for the gofundme.com campaign.
