"A better future" project 2/b: Library

I'm starting the project "a better future" to help "Angaza junior school" of Kibokoni, Malindi, Kenya.


I don't have to explain to nobody, or teaching nothing, about how the world we live is going. And neither I wanna convince you to be able to change it. But I still think that a simple daily action in help of someone, human being or animal, that needs more than us, without the weight of political colors or skin ones, without the grudge due to what medias serves us daily, without building rankings on who has more and who less or caring about how is close or far from us...might be that full breath which empties us from that hate society wants us to accumulate, getting definitely lighter. It remembers us to be in the same boat and the same sea, more or less rough. It permits us to get back home to our small or big family with a smiling wider heart. 


The school has been built in 2007 thanks to the support and volunteering of local people and not, that trust in education and in children's schooling as the best way to guarantee future and indipendence to their country.


Actually it has 11 classrooms, an enrolment of 205 kids of different ages and 13 staff members including the teachers.


The majority of the children comes from the surrounding villages after some km walking by and normally they wouldn't have the chance to study. Kenya government estimates that about 9 milion kids in between 5 and 13 years old doesn't go to school due the fact they are needed in their family's maintenance working hard in the fields. This, assuming that about 44% of the children that lives in the bush are not registered at all, loosing the possibility to get schooled.


Main priority now are:
- Six classes to be plastered, flowered, wired
- One Library/library books
- One staffroom
- One administration block
- Any kind of sport equipment
- Anything...


Angaza Junior School thus is trying to guarantee a dignified structure in with the children can grow up and get schooled, learn english as well as native Kiswahili, getting prepared to face the world once grown up, practice sports, know the world outside of their village. It tries to support them in case one day they will have the chance to go to secondaries schools, improving their family's life, their village's one and the one of their country.

Education and sport are the best way to keep them far from the street, from bad habits, from from drugs and alcool, from superstitions that still weights here, from religion extremisms and racial hates in between tribes.

Knowledge is power.


Gift what you can, what you feel. I will keep you updated on every movement done with regular bank transfers, I will publish school photografies, when I'll be there delivering your helps and when they will start the works. 

I'm not a onlus or ong, I'm just a man who opened a bank account at his own costs in which to place the helps that will arrive from this campaigne and that will be -entirely- transferred (with proving documents) for charity. This, to not loose neither an euro for its managing. Things that can't happen with big organizations.

In case your helps exceeds the necessary, I will evaluate with extremely care another candidate project in which to "divert" entirely the excess part keeping you informed.

"A better future" project is not mine. It's ours, yours. Give me a help so it can be the difference, even if small. It will be an improvement in someone else's life and, surely, even in your.

"L'educazione è l'arma piu' potente da usare per cambiare il mondo" (N. Mandela)

Avvio il progetto "a better future" per aiutare la scuola elementare "Angaza" di Kibokoni, Malindi, Kenya.

Non devo spiegare a nessuno ed insegnare nulla su come va il mondo in cui stiamo vivendo. E nemmeno voglio convincervi di poterlo cambiare. Ma penso anche che una piccola azione quotidiana in aiuto di qualcuno, persona o animale, che ha piu' bisogno di noi, senza il peso di colori politici e di pelle, senza l'astio dovuto a cio' che ci servono i media quotidianamente, senza costruirsi graduatorie di chi ha piu' o meno bisogno, di chi è piu' o meno lontano a noi...possa essere quel respiro a pieni polmoni che ci svuota dell'odio che vogliono farci accumulare e ci lascia piu' leggeri. Ci ricorda di essere tutti nella stessa barca e nello stesso mare, piu' o meno mosso. Ci permette di rientrare a casa dalla propria famiglia, piccola o grande che sia, con un cuore piu' aperto e sorridente.

La scuola è stata creata nel 2007 grazie al supporto ed al volontariato di persone del luogo e non, che credono nell'educazione e nella istruzione dei bambini come miglior modo per garantire futuro ed indipendenza al proprio paese.

Attualmente consta di 11 classi, 205 bambini di varia età e 13 persone di staff tra cui gli insegnanti.

La gran maggioranza dei bambini vengono dai villaggi circostanti dopo qualche km a piedi e normalmente non potrebbero studiare. Il governo kenyota stima che nel proprio paese circa 9 milioni di bambini tra i 5 ed i 13 anni non frequentano scuole perchè necessari al sostenimento della famiglia tramite il duro lavoro nei campi. Questo contando anche che circa il 44% dei bambini che vivono fuori dai villaggi non sono censiti e non possono quindi accedere all'istruzione.

Le priorità attuali sono:
- la pavimentazione ed il cablaggio di 6 classi
- l'allestimento di una libreria con i libri necessari
- una stanza per lo staff
- un ufficio amministrativo
- qualunque genere di attrezzatura sportiva
- qualunque cosa..

La Angaza Junior School cerca quindi di garantire una struttura dignitosa nella quale i bambini possano crescere ed istruirsi, imparare l'inglese oltre al nativo kiswahili, prepararsi per rapportarsi col mondo una volta cresciuti, praticare sport, conoscere il mondo al di fuori del proprio villaggio. Cerca di supportarli nel caso possano frequentare poi scuole secondarie in modo da migliorare la vita della propria famiglia, del proprio villaggio e del proprio paese.

L'istruzione e lo sport sono il miglior modo di tenerli lontani dalla strada, dalle cattive abitudini, da droghe ed alcool, dalle superstizioni che ancora hanno gran peso qui, da fanatismi religiosi ed odi razziali tra differenti tribu'.

Conoscenza è potere.

Donate quello che potete, che vi sentite. Vi terro' al corrente su ogni movimento fatto tramite documentazioni di regolari trasferimenti bancari, pubblichero' fotografie della scuola, di quando consegnerò personalmente il vostro prezioso aiuto e di quando effettueranno i lavori.

Non sono una onlus od una ong, sono un privato che ha aperto un conto corrente a proprie spese sul quale depositare i fondi che arriveranno da questa campagna e che verranno girati al 100% (con documentazioni comprovanti) a fine di beneficienza, in modo da non perdere nemmeno un euro nella sua gestione. Cosa che non puo' avvenire con le grandi società di aiuti umanitari.

Nel caso i fondi eccedano il necessario, valuterò con estrema cautela un altro progetto candidato sul quale dirottare interamente la parte eccedente comunicandolo nel mentre.

Il progetto "a better future" non è mio. E' nostro, vostro. Datemi una mano perchè possa fare la differenza, anche se piccola. Sarà un miglioramento nella vita di qualcuno e, sicuramente, anche nella vostra.
