Every week in the UK over 100 babies are stillborn or die within the first week of their precious lives.
Sands is a charity that supports anyone that is affected by the death of a baby, they work to improve bereavement care at home and in hospital and they promote research in the hope of sparing families the devastation and heartbreak of losing a baby.
I am dedicating my time this year to raise as much money as I can for Sands. In the hope that we can all make a difference to the care given to parents and their family, to research into why and how this can be prevented and to the make sure that the best support is available when needed, for as long as its needed.
Knowing all too well how it feels to lose a baby through stillbirth or within the first few weeks of a babies life after my daughter lost her daughter at 24 weeks into her pregnancy. Having to be told that her babies heart has stopped beating that their was nothing that could be done. To then have to be induced and go though labour and give birth, knowing that she would never hear her baby girl first cry. Having to then say goodbye and organise a cremation for her baby girl.
Sands gives the support that is needs to both parents and their family. Siblings, Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles and Friends all suffer in different ways and need different support. Sands is their to help with this support. Without the on going donates that the organisation receive this would not be possible. We are starting our fund raising by doing the yorkshire three peaks walk. This is a 24mile walk and we will be completing it in a day on the 12th August.
We are also planning on doing other fund raising event of which we hope you will help us by donating a small amount.
