Jenna Simonetti Stem Cell Treatment

Those who know and love Jenna, know that she is a kind, loving, gentle, and charismatic soul who also happens to have Cystic Fibrosis (CF). She has never let CF define who she is or let it keep her down. Instead, she’s become a champion for those affected by CF by helping to found the Just Breathe Foundation, which helps raise awareness, as well as money for local families and research. Unfortunately, this past March, Jenna became extremely ill and required her to be hospitalized. She was eventually able to go home, but her world had been forever changed. Jenna now cannot live without supplementary oxygen and is constantly battling infections that cause fever and full body aches and chills. Her doctors say this is her new normal. Recently, after an evaluation at UPMC Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital, doctors delivered the news that she was sick enough to be placed on the Lung Transplant List. She also learned every sobering detail about what a lung transplant entails, including the possible side effects and the grueling recovery process. Jenna is just not ready to take this step. After meeting with a team of doctors at the The Lung Institute in Pittsburgh, they offered her a transplant alternative that is not an FDA approved treatment: Stem Cell Treatment (SCT). The doctors at the lung clinic have found this treatment vastly improves the lung function and tissue in people with other illnesses, such as COPD, emphysema, etc.

On October 16, Jenna and her family will drive to Pittsburgh to give SCT a try with the hope that a lung transplant will not be necessary. The problem with SCT not being approved by the FDA is that it is NOT covered by an insurance company in the US. Jenna’s three-day treatment will cost $12,000 out of pocket. After three months, she will go back for another three-day treatment at a slightly discounted rate. Adding travel, hotels and food, the cost for treatment will easily exceed $25,000. If they find the SCT is working, Jenna will have to travel to Pittsburgh once or twice per year to maintain her health. Although Just Breathe Foundation is graciously helping, their resources are limited. I have started a Go Fund Me page because a lot of people have asked about how they can help and support Jenna. For anyone that would like to help, please donate below. Any amount is greatly appreciated! https://www.gofundme.com/jennasimonetti

Additionally, we have bracelets (pictured below) made by Jenna with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Jenna’s treatment fund. Kids are $10 each and adults for $15 each. Bracelets are available by email only @ [email redacted] . Prayers for Jenna and her family are always greatly appreciated as well! PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!!!
