Jackson Vandermark Benefit Fund

Jackson, 4 year old son of Lisa & Jay Vandermark, a Police Officer in Johnson City, NY, suffers from Shones syndrome. Shone’s syndrome is a rare form of congenital heart disease where there is a combination of four left-sided heart defects (obstructions). Jackson had his first heart surgery 4 years ago. Now, Jackson is having heart failure and needs a new heart.
Jackson has been added to the heart transplant list and is currently admitted into a NYC area hospital for IV medication to help with the heart failure while he waits for a heart transplant. Jackson will remain admitted until a heart donor match is found, which could take more than a year.
The Vandermark family of 5 will be split during this difficult time. In order for Jay and Lisa to stay by Jackson's side, they need to alternate their time with Jackson and their time with their two daughters, Brooke and Layna, back home. Jay stays home with Brooke and Layna during his work week while Lisa stays with Jackson. On his two days off, Jay travels to NYC so Lisa can travel home to spend time with Brooke and Layna.
Jay is new to the Johnson City Police Department and therefore he hasn't accumulated much sick time. Fellow officers have donated sick time for Jay to use to spend more time with Jackson, especially after he recovers from the transplant once that happens.
Join our JCPD family as we all come together to help and support the Vandermark Family. Funds will be used to help cover costs of the frequent travels between home and NYC, lodging, parking, meals, and to support the Vandermark Family during this extended time that their family is split between home and the NYC hospital.
