Trumps Policies Will Hurt Us in New Orleans

On January 20, Trump becomes President and starts to unleash a campaign of impoverishment, war, extreme racism, sexism, and homophobia. The plan to imprison, deport and discriminate against immigrants and Muslims is dangerous and real. Pretending to be for “the people” his billionaire cabinet is filling with white supremacists, environment destroyers, war crazy generals, and opponents of any social benefit we have won. We will see an increased curtailment of constitutional rights, more prisons, and less education. His cabinet is also a who’s who of Wall St. banks, hedge funds, fast food moguls, and opponents of higher wages.
In Washington and hundreds of cities across the U.S. January 20 will mark the first day of united mobilizations to resist and stop Trump’s war on the people. New Orleans should be counted on that day by bringing out thousands to say “We Will Not Go Back.”

No matter what issue you work on having a massive turnout that day will help all our work, and make us more united.

We urgently need financial support for flyers, posters, stage, sound, banners, ads, and other materials.  We need the funding immediately to do the necessary organizing. Your support can make all the difference.

Sisters and Brothers,
3,000 strong and united, we rallied and marched on January 20th to begin a new chapter in the struggle for racial and economic justice In New Orleans.
We are facing a dangerous president who has declared war on political, civil rights and workers’ rights; on every social program and who threatens the world with more wars. A president, who as Pat Bryan of Justice and Beyond warned, is a fascist threat seeking to scapegoat immigrants and Muslims. This president considers women and lgbtq people less than human, subject to poverty and violence; a president who threatens to roll tanks in our streets and will surely increase the prison population, already the worst in the world.
Each assault, each executive order threatens intensified racism, incarceration deportations and loss of funding for every program facing our own people of New Orleans. This only adds to the crisis of gentrification, white supremacy, poor education, and imprisonment carried out by our city.
We thank the many endorsers, organizations and individuals who jumped in -- from copying to fund collections, poster making, security, donated, and attended meetings.
We thank our speakers for wonderful talks, for being understanding and patient. While we may have had too many speakers, they represented an amazing number of different sectors and issues united to take down Trump. This is part of the process of building unity.
We also congratulate the thousands who marched the next day to stand up for women and our coalition was there and participated.
So, enjoy the array of photos and remember on February 11th at Christian Unity Church will be the follow up meeting to plan a mass Peoples’ Assembly.
We Believe That We Will Win!
