Intactivism Tipping Point Survey

Monitoring the public’s knowledge and opinion about circumcision and the intact male body is vital for the intactivist movement, as we shape our communications and advocacy efforts.

Drawing from other social movements, we know that for rapid and meaningful change (a tipping point) to occur, 20–24 percent of the public will need to agree with the position that baby boys should remain intact, and that the intact male body is normal.

In 2014, Intact America conducted its first national survey and found that roughly 10 percent of respondents agreed with our position that baby boys should remain intact. Based on information from that survey, Intact America made strategic decisions about our messaging.

With coverage of circumcision in both print and social media continuing to grow, and the explosion of Intactivism, we believe public opinion and knowledge are changing quickly. To monitor and demonstrate our progress, Intact America will repeat this national, random-sample public-opinion survey this year and every year until a tipping point occurs. We have engaged Qualtrics, one of the leading online survey research companies, to help us.

We anticipate this survey will take approximately one month. We will then analyze the results and share our findings with you, our supporters, and to the media. The cost to conduct the survey is approximately $7,000.
