Simoonga School indipendent Water supply

Simoonga Thandizani Trust School is a school in  Simoonga Village in Zambia.
Currently they have more than 350 students attending. They offer: preschool, receiving, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade.

The school does not receive any financial help from the government and the community is too poor to support it. They rely heavily on donations.  Some children walk up to 2 hours each way everyday to be here! Simoonga Thandizani Trust School is doing its best to connect the children from different villages to the world outside through the eduction they receive daily.

We spent 10 days there as volunteers and were able to have a better understanding of what they need and how much they are doing to give their students a good education and safe place to spend their days. The teachers are truly dedicated to making sure that each of their students receives the best learning experience possible. 

Just a few days ago the school found out that the River Club has decided to disconnect them from the village water supply from their bore-hole. This action will result in serious negative impact with regard to all operations that need water in the school. Water is Life. The school will not be able to function without this basic need. 

At this point the school needs to invest on having its own independent water supply system as soon as possible! They have to start the bore-hole construction as soon as possible so that they can have their own independent water supply as a school. This will also help them to undertake other projects that use water, for example tree planting, gardening and other science projects. This also means that the school water supply will be throughout the day, unlike the current situation where it is only available in the morning, for example from 06:00 to 09:00 hours.
