Ma sœur Micheline a été diagnostiquée d'un cancer au poumon métastatique (léiomyosarcome d’origine inconnue) de stade 4 au début de 2017 après avoir subi une lobectomie (ablation du lobe supérieur droit) et une hystérectomie. Des métastases apparaissent aussi au foie, on procède donc à une hépactectomie (ablation d’une partie du foie) en octobre 2017. Des métastases à la colonne vertébrale font aussi apparition, on procède à de la radiochirurgie à la L5 et chimiothérapie en août 2017. En 2018, apparaissent de nouvelles métastases aux os (humérus, fémur, clavicule ainsi qu’à l’abdomen, au foie et au poumon.
Elle n’en est pas à son premier cancer. À l’âge de 19 ans, elle avait été diagnostiquée d’un sarcome d'Ewing avec un pronostique de deux ans à vivre; après la chirurgie et radiation, elle a décliné la chimiothérapie. En 1984, elle fonde l'OQPAC (Organisation québécoise des personnes atteintes de cancer) dans la région de Québec, qui compte maintenant plus de 100 bénévoles.
En octobre 2018, et après mure réflexion, Micheline décline recevoir de la chimiothérapie additionnelle pour traiter ce cancer dit incurable. Juste avant Noël 2018, son oncologue lui annonce que ce serait son dernier Noël.
Munie d’un désir ardent de vivre, elle n’en a pas fini avec la vie. Ce genre de décision ne s’exprime pas avec des mots, ni par une pensée, elle vient du plus profond de votre être, dit-elle, et c’est exactement ce qui va se produire. Son DÉSIR ACTUEL : Tenter une autre approche et se rendre à cette clinique à Tijuana au Mexique afin de recevoir des traitements.
Cependant, une fois qu’elle eut décidé de vivre, elle devait régler un problème urgent : le manque d’argent. Si son âme avait choisi de vivre, son esprit, lui, se demandait comment faire pour payer les frais médicaux. Dès lors, elle a dit : JE NE POURRAI SURVIVRE QUE GRÂCE À L'AIDE D'AUTRUI ». Et les gens ont répondu. Son témoignage a trouvé une résonnance chez les gens qui, ensuite, ont passé à l’acte et ont fait le nécessaire, et une vague de soutien financier et émotionnel continue de déferler depuis.
Coût des traitements aux trois semaines : 18 995 $US (exclut son transport et son hébergement).
Vendredi 19 avril 2019 -- 9e semaine de traitements
Micheline a communiqué avec Peggy Sue et d’autres personnes qui ont reçu des traitements administrés par le Dr Carlos Bautista, au Immunity Therapy Center, à Tijuana, au Mexique.

My sister Micheline was diagnosed with metastatic stage 4 lung cancer (leiomyosarcoma of unknown origin) in early 2017, after undergoing a lobectomy (removal of the right upper lobe) and a hysterectomy. Metastases also appeared in the liver, so a hepatectomy (removal of a part of the liver) was performed in October 2017. Subsequently, radiosurgery on the L5 vertebra as well as chemotherapy were initiated in August 2017 after new metastases were found in her spine. Yet more metastases emerged in 2018 both in bone tissue (in the humerus, femur, and collarbone) as well in the abdomen, liver and lung.
This is not Micheline’s first cancer. At age 19, she was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma and told she had two years left to live. She underwent surgery radiation but refused chemotherapy. In 1984, she founded the OQPAC (Quebec organization of people with cancer) in the Quebec City region, which now has over 100 volunteers.
In October 2018, after careful consideration, Micheline declined additional chemotherapy. Her cancer has been declared « incurable ». Just before the holiday season, her oncologist told her this Christmas would be her last. Her WISH NOW : to try another approach and travel to a clinic in Tijuana, Mexico for treatment.
However, after deciding - once more - to live, she was faced with an urgent problem : lack of funds. Her soul had chosen life, but her mind was preoccupied with paying medical costs. She realized that: "I WILL SURVIVE ONLY WITH THE HELP FROM OTHERS". Her appeal was heard and resonated with many people who answered her and helped. The tide of financial and emotional support is still rising.
The cost of a three-week treatment is USD18,995 (not including travel and accommodation).
