Huts for the Holidays 2016

Due to the success of last year's Huts for the Holidays fundraiser, MadHousers is pleased to announce its second round!
Shelter is a basic human need, as essential as food and water. Unfortunately, the Atlanta area hosts an estimated 6500 homeless people who have no such shelter. Mad Housers, Inc. satisfies this basic human need by building living and storage huts for the homeless.

The weather is getting colder and wetter which makes the homeless even more vulnerable to illness and physical danger. Many of our clients have had to make due with tarps and boxes which do not provide much security or protection from the elements. The shelters we build are made of wood, stand off the ground to insure drainage, and include a lock for security.
Our goal is a minimum of $1200 which will provide two to three huts for folks in need. The construction of these huts costs $300-$500 depending on the size and style of the hut. For more information on the huts, visit:

We hope to exceed this goal before Christmas so more people can get huts for the holidays. Each hut takes about 50 man hours to create and we are comprised entirely of volunteers.
