H.O.P.E is a caring, trained volunteer group committed to helping women enhance their current and future existence. Our objective is to help women realize their own dreams of living a safe and healthy life.
We are a growing organization that provides night time outreach to homeless and/or sexually exploited women in Kelowna B.C.'s downtown core. We have a wide variety of volunteers ranging from students to business professionals to experiential recovered women.

HELP VULNERABLE WOMEN HEAL AT THE HOUSE
OF HOPE IN 2017
What is the House of H.O.P.E?:
The House of HOPE was established in 2010 and to date, 250 women have stayed and healed at the house. H.O.P.E. provides safety at their safe house which offers 10 beds for short or long term stays. The safe house is divided into two separate, fully functioning homes with 5 beds in each home and serves teens and women who reflect diversity of ethnicity, language & age.
The house connects clients to necessary community services to address all aspects of recovery including mental health, homelessness, addiction, and trauma. Many came to the House of H.O.P.E after detox and stayed for 2-3 months while connecting with doctors, counsellors, mental health providers, or probation officers and a 12 Step support group. Many went into treatment, and then came back to the House of H.O.P.E afterwards to start employment or education opportunities. This provides them with a supportive transitional environment.
Our mission:
Between 2010 and 2015 HOPE relied on key volunteers to manage the house. The organization has now grown to the point where staff is required. In 2016, Founder and H.O.P.E. leader, Angie Lohr was increasingly spending time on training and managing the volunteers as the outreach program had grown from its humble beginnings in 2008 from having 2 volunteers to an organization with 70 trained and dedicated volunteers. In 2016 the organization made the decision to restructure and not do any intakes that year until funds the funds were raised to hire staff for 2017. The HOPE team is actively fundraising to raise the $100,000.00 required to run the house each year with one full-time program manager to oversee the House of HOPE house and projects and two-part time social workers to manage the house and provide counselling to the residents.
