We are Homeless Eats and we are from Romford, London. We feed the homeless every weekend and are raising funds so we can maintain doing that. The funds raised from this will be used for important necessities in order to feed the homeless, e.g.  food carts, ingredients for food, sleeping bags, clothing etc.

Homeless Eats is a project our family started 6 weeks ago. Homelessness is a big problem in the UK and across the world, its a form of poverty. December, 2016 showed there was around 250,000 homeless people in the UK, thats a quarter of a million! Over the past two years this number has risen immensely. People go without food, shelter, clothes and any other necessities required for a human being to survive in this cruel world. They're all alone. Can you believe there's people like doctors and lawyers and surgeons who walk past the everyday homeless person in town or in the street and carelessly put their head down, blind to the image of a helpless person.

My family will always strive to defeat homelessness, we also began to provide jobs for the homeless people we meet in Southend to help enable a better future for them. Homeless Eats is not a form of marketisation, its genuine care for the less fortunate. We have raised so far around £5,739, this money is contributed to things like ingredients for food, sleeping bags, boots etc. We aim to help individuals, rather than spending hundreds on gloves and hats, we ask what they actually need and try our best to provide. A man I seen at the shelter two weeks ago lacked footwear and at the end of the day I seen my dad give £40 out of his pocket to this mans career so she could buy sturdy winter boots for him. Money is not spent on unnecessary things in Homless Eats but requested items and foods. We are very grateful for the money donated and are happy to know there are people out there who care. Donations are always appreciated.

I'm from a family who, as a child would get anything I wished for whether it was the brand new Nintendo DS or the newest PlayStation. However, my parents always taught me the values that nothing is more important than togetherness. Homeless Eats not only provides fresh, authentic and hot food every weekend, but provides togetherness. The people we feed and provide for every weekend has become my family. They're not just people we see and help from time to time, they're apart of our life. Me, my mum and the members of the Homeless Eats team all enjoy the time we spend cooking up hot meals for our people. Just the smile and the appreciation from them feels rewarding and I could ask for nothing more.

My names Kirum, and my parents are the organisers of Homless Eats, I am a trainee barrister and an a level student and I dedicate my time to help every weekend. I also informed my college about the project of Homless Eats and they are very intrigued with the whole ideology, they hope to get more young people involved. We have got sponsors from companies like: Rubicon, Centreforce, Satkeer Catering, Forever Young , Lahore Kebab House, Trade Price Vans, Pnks Essex Casuals,Simply teeth, Nuffield Heath, The Bank, Soleil, PRC, Reine Desfleurs, Tabla and many more. Also a great thanks to the family brand Sahota and Bhogal. These sponsors provide support and donations to Homless Eats on a regular basis and we are very grateful to each and very one of them. We hope to gain more sponsors and recognition so we can continue to maintain Homless Eats.
