Homeless #chilokids of Skid Row 3 day Camp

Tax deductible

Want to make a difference by funding something never done before?  On June 28th, 2019, we're taking 70+ homeless kids AND their parents from Downtown LA, Skid Row District to a 3 day camp in the mountains of San Bernardino (picture the beautiful settings of the movie Parent Trap) for 3 days of family bonding and community support.  The Chilo Foundation provides meaningful family experiences to the homeless families of the Skid Row District of Los Angeles, CA.

As you may imagine, camping with whole families, not just children, brings unique challenges in accommodating families' needs.  However, through this process, we are in a unique position to address the issues which afflict these families as well as potentially creating life changing events that could help transcend their homeless plight.  And our goal is to share these experiences and events as they happen to help us all better understand the plight these families are in, the obstacles they face, and dispel some stereotypes we all carry so we may better be able to help families in similar situations.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be sharing how we attempt to go about planning this weekend, the resources we shall utilize, the partnerships we enter into, the accommodations we will make for them (like religious preference) as well as a glimpse into a day in the life of a homeless family on Skid Row, profiles of families, etc...  We ask you to join us on our journey by following us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or follow #chilokids .

More information about the Chilo Foundation of California:  Chilo Foundation helps the homeless of Skid Row, Los Angeles, CA. We hold an event every month at San Julian Park  in Skid Row, CA that provides families an opportunity to share a meal at a table together in a safe, park environment,  allow their kids to engage in group activities like musical chairs, arts and crafts, face paint.  We also provide clothes, including children's clothes  (over 1,500 pieces given out each month)  personal hygiene kits and alot of love and kindness.
