Abigail:Warrior Princess

When you look into the sweet face of 3 year old Abigail, you can't help but feel the warmth and innocence pouring out from a soul that loves to laugh, play sing and dance. However, 6 weeks ago Abigail was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma and is now undergoing chemotherapy in hopes of having tumors removed. Neuroblastoma is a very rare type of cancer that generally develops in the adrenal glands and can spread to the lymph nodes, bone marrow or bones. she now spends weeks at a time at the Mt Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital in New York City, under the care of specialized doctors treating her tiny little body in order to get rid of this awful disease. The treatment is strenuous and the therapy is schedule is rigid but it hasn’t stolen her joy(thankfully). She still enjoys singing and dancing and playing with all the toys at the hospital. Abigail has become a beacon of light and joy among the many of medical staff whom she knows by each of their names.

Abigail’s parents both worked as hotel housekeepers, but the need for rigorous treatment has forced her mother to leave her job in order to be with her child as she goes back and forth to the hospital for chemotherapy. As a result her father has picked up 2 shifts in attempt to make ends meet with little to no time to be with his family. Living expenses and the cost of transportation to and from the hospital has caused the family to lose their apartment and are temporarily staying with friends. Fortunately, much of Abigail's medical expense is covered by insurance with a few exceptions, but the family is still very much in need of assistance in caring for one another. Living in the city calls for many extra expenses in order to secure a safe and clean place for Abigail to come home to during hospital visits and is not feasible with only one source of income.  Your donations would help with uncovered medical costs, assistance in rent to provide a better environment in which to bring Abigail home and transportation to and from the hospital for treatment and doctor visits. Any amount would be appreciated to help this family as they struggle to provide and fight for a healthy baby. If you are unable to donate monetarily we are asking for prayers for Abigail’s healing, for her bright and cheerful spirit to remain very much intact, for a healthier living space, and for strength and encouragement to surround the entire family.
