Help For Dante And Family

Donación protegida

Hello. My wife Valerie and I have been married for almost two years now this coming July. As of this past January, we were blessed with the news that we were expecting! Excited with this news, we began Valerie's regular OB appointments and ultrasounds. At her second ultrasound, it was discovered that there was no blood flow to the right ventricle of the heart. We were told that it could be that the machine was just not able to capture the blood flow and that Dante was still growing and developing as normal. 2 weeks went by and we came back for a follow up ultrasound.. We were informed that there is still a lack of blood flow and Valerie would need to be rushed to see a pediatric cardiologist ASAP. Two days later we met with the cardiologist after she finished her ultrasound to figure out what was going on. We were sadly informed that our baby boy, Dante is suffering from Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome or HRHS. The opening at the pulmonary valve is closed so the right ventricle of his heart cannot grow or pump blood to his lungs. At this point, half his heart is underdeveloped. The cardiologist proceeded to inform us that the only way to rectify this issue is with a series of 3 heart surgeries that will create an alternate path for blood to flow to his lungs. One surgery right after Dante is born, another one when he is 3 to 5 months old, and the last one being around 3 to 5 years old. Val and I were heartbroken and devastated by this news. We were also informed that for at least the first year of his life, he will need to be closely monitored and have weekly check ups with his cardiologist. We know that with this situation, Val and I will need to take 6 or more months off from work in order to properly learn how to take care of him and monitor him after his 2 closest surgeries. Val and I both work full time in order to get by. This new development and change in our work schedules will most definitely have a tremendous negative impact on our financial status with vehicle and housing situations as we will have no income for at least 4 of those months. Our insurance will only be covering the bare minimum of this process and it is possible that one of us will need to stay home indefinitely depending on the severity and if there are any complications. Especially since CT law only allow us up to 4 months leave (unpaid) through FMLA...but we are trying to take this day by day. We have already been overwhelmed with love, support, and prayers from friends and family. We ask now that you consider supporting in a way that will help us financially through this difficult time. Your help will go towards daily expenses, rent, car notes, utility expenses, baby needs, monitoring equipment, and excess medical expenses that our insurance will not cover. Our goal above may seem high but in reality, it will only cover living expenses and some other expenses. Our hope and prayer is that we are provided with the necessary funds to invest our time and care into our son as much as possible through this time. Despite all that has transpired, we are trusting in God to guide, comfort, and support us along the way. Dante has already blessed our hearts in so many ways and we want to give him the best possible life we can, however long or short.
