Help Lydia Help Others

This February, Lydia LaGorga will be traveling to rural El Salvador for her second work-service trip in the town of Rancho Grande.

Students like her have been visiting and serving the people of Rancho for 12 years, helping the community by building sanitary and sustainable latrines, wells, and field irrigation systems. Last year, the students dug trenches and installed pipes providing every home with a water spigot connected to one of the town’s three wells.

Along with building and digging, the group travels with three physicians, a dentist, and an optometrist, who run a heath clinic that reaches each member of the community. For Lydia, this trip has been an integral part of her growing interest in engineering, providing a tangible example of the impact sustainable solutions can have on real people. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to return this year, and reunite with her El Salvadorian amigos.

Any donation of medical/school supplies, as well as financial support, will greatly benefit her group’s work in El Salvador.
