Help Lori Get A Leg Up

Donation protected

Lori is a housekeeper with a cartoon laugh and a deep kindness. She is someone who would give the shirt off of her back for a friend.  She is a hard-working matriarch who has spent too much of her life struggling.

Lori left an abusive relationship with nothing but her dignity. She left everything and moved in with friends, who also lacked stable housing. Then her daughter became pregnant and moved in with her and her friends. Lori and her daughter have secured low-income housing and now her daughter has a one-month-old baby. Lori has had so little time to grow her savings and homelessness is so expensive. Lori's grandbaby is too young to be without her mother and Lori has recently started working a second job to increase her monthly income. Lori needs to have enough extra income to support herself, her daughter and her new grandbaby for the foreseeable future.

The money we are requesting will cover her first month's rent and the remaining balance of the deposit she owes. This will give her the leg up she needs so that she isn't behind like she has been in the past. This will be the first time in her life that she will have an apartment in her name and it is the best apartment she's ever lived in. She is ready to make drastic changes to her habits.

When you don't have a refrigerator or stove, you cannot prepare meals and if you are poor you often turn to fast food and pre-prepared hot foods. Lori has fallen into this pattern and wants to learn to make great foods on her own for her family but she is a little intimidated because she doesn't know how to cook and doesn't have ideas for simple recipes.

We want to help her get caught up for the first time in her life so she can be like anyone who saves and plans for a move and not have to decide between feeding her family or buying curtains. We want to help Lori develop new habits so she can lead her family, with healthy meals and budgetary mindedness. We would like to offer Lori a message from the world that she is appreciated for the efforts she makes.  If you have $20 or more dollars to help that is great. If you don't, a simple, low-cost recipe and or some words of encouragement would also be greatly appreciated in our Facebook Group.

Thank you for your support!
