As most of you know the Shelly's who have owned and operated family businesses in our area are down on their luck. Now more than ever they need the help of the people they have served over the past 17 years. Not only have they fed us but they have employed over 600 employees in this area. Notably they have given Christmas bonuses to employees, free turkeys at Thanksgiving, holiday pay, free bereavement luncheons, and over $40,000 in donations back to our community.
As many people can attest to they are good people and hard workers. They have certainly had their struggles in the past few years, the restaurant only being a small piece as Pat battled cancer. Now they are facing an uphill battle which will continue long after the doors to Shelly’s close. Both Pat and Denise are losing their jobs as the restaurant employed them full time.
We have all seen Pat’s old car sitting outside of the restaurant. Undoubtedly the family will need a reliable car to begin to rebuild their lives and find steady employment.
Even if it is just a few dollars it will probably mean more to this family then we will know. Hopefully this will be one small step of helping them get back on their feet and letting them know that a community they care so much about cares about them too.
