As many of you may or may not know, I am a recipient of DACA and that means that like thousands of other people in the U.S. my rights to work and live in the United States are only protected temporarily. I began advocating for immigration reform after graduating high school in 2014. Then, after the Trump administration terminated DACA in 2017, I decided to speak up against that decision which led to advocating alongside leaders like New Jersey Senators and the governor of New Jersey. It has been four years since I came out as undocumented, and while it has not been easy, I have been able to create an online platform that has become a voice and a crucial megaphone for speaking truth and storytelling from my perspective as an undocumented young person.
Currently, there is a a migrant caravan awaiting entrance into the U.S. This is happening now and a big part of it is as a consequence of the policies created by the Trump administration. I have been given the opportunity to join forces with the New Sanctuary Coalition in San Diego, California in January. This organization is renown for their dedication to families and communities facing detention and deportation. The New Sanctuary Coalition stands in solidarity with communities. I am moved and humbled to use my platform to join the organization and provide media that will further aid the groundwork that the organization is doing as well as be of service in any other area I may be needed in. This is an immense opportunity and honor for me as I have been raising my voice and sharing the stories of others through my platform over the last four years in order to seek reform of U.S. immigration laws that are just and fair. However, I need your help. My parents both work really hard, but simply cannot help fund this trip out of pocket Please help me help my community by supporting my trip to San Diego. This means the world and if you have any questions regarding this mission please reach out to me.
