Hanalei Bay Resort Associate Relief

Over the weekend of the 14th, the northernmost part of Kauai, particularly the town of Hanalei and beyond was hit by a storm that deposited 28 inches of rain in 24 hours with significant flooding.  As the community continues to recover, our thoughts are with the 'ohana' that is evident from all those who have been helping others. The region will thrive because we are all #KauaiStrong.

While we are fortunate to report that the resort had minimal damage, it is because of the selfless efforts of our Family at the property that it was kept to a minimum.  But more importantly, we have those same people who are so close to us who have been displaced after losing their homes and vehicles, have had significant damage to their property in Hanalei and are grappling with major repairs and clean-up now that the floodwaters are receding.

With Grand Pacific Resorts’ assistance, we have set up a GoFundMe drive to help our HBR Family members who have been deeply impacted by the events of the past week. If you would like to help, we encourage you to make a donation.

A dollar for dollar match, up to $10,000, has been generously pledged by our management company, Grand Pacific Resorts.

As many of you know, our own Lillian Watari has been the high fundraiser individual for the walk, which contributes to HBR being the high fundraiser property for the island, beating out properties with hundreds more employees, including the St. Regis, Westin and Marriott.  The VOA last year adopted this community fundraiser as its charitable focus, dubbing ourselves “The Biggest Little Resort” on island.  While Lillian’s own home and farm were being inundated, she continued to finish the Bowling Night fundraiser that would contribute to the Charity Walk.  We encourage owners’ continued support this year.  Contributions should be made in Lillian’s name, which will contribute to the total donation from HBR as well.
